Accuracy - How close you are to the actual value OR how close the experimental value is to the true or real value for the quantity being measured
Your Results:
Measured Results
Experimental Results
Accepted Value:
True Value
Actual Value
Known Value
Reference Value
Precision - how well a measurement can be reproduced if the same is measured multiple times
The smaller the difference between the repeated measurements the more precise or repeatable the measurement is
Basically:
Accuracy = Reliability
Precision = Repeatability
Percent Error calculation - How closely the measurement agrees with an accepted value of the same quantity
Measured Value: Value experimentally determined
Accepted Value: Most probable value of measurement
Percent Error Formula:
Credits: GeeksforGeeks
Experiments are accurate if percent error ranges from 10% of each other
