Accuracy - How close you are to the actual value OR how close the experimental value is to the true or real value for the quantity being measured

Precision - how well a measurement can be reproduced if the same is measured multiple times

  • The smaller the difference between the repeated measurements the more precise or repeatable the measurement is

Basically:

Accuracy = Reliability

Precision = Repeatability

Percent Error calculation - How closely the measurement agrees with an accepted value of the same quantity

Measured Value: Value experimentally determined

Accepted Value: Most probable value of measurement
